Cursisten worden begeleid door de &#039;vecht- of vluchtreactie&#039; \u2013 een evolutionair overlevingsmechanisme dat wordt geactiveerd wanneer we bedreigingen waarnemen, zowel fysiek als psychisch. De cursus legt de rol uit van de belangrijkste stresshormonen \u2013 cortisol, adrenaline (epinefrine) en noradrenaline (norepinefrine) \u2013 en beschrijft hoe ze lichaam en geest be\u00efnvloeden, zowel in gezonde doses als wanneer ze chronisch hoog aanwezig zijn. Deelnemers begrijpen hoe het General Adaptation Syndrome zich ontwikkelt in drie fasen: alarm, weerstand en uitputting, en zien hoe langdurige stress kan leiden tot ernstige fysieke en psychologische gevolgen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een belangrijk onderdeel onderzoekt het concept neuroplasticiteit \u2013 het opmerkelijke vermogen van de hersenen om zich gedurende het hele leven te veranderen en aan te passen. Het onderwerp bespreekt hoe kortdurende stress de focus en het leervermogen daadwerkelijk kan verbeteren, maar chronische stress schadelijke effecten heeft op de structuur en functie van de hersenen. Chronische stress kan bijvoorbeeld de hippocampus doen krimpen (wat het geheugen en leervermogen be\u00efnvloedt), de amygdala overactiveren (wat angstgevoelens verhoogt) en de prefrontale cortex verzwakken (wat de focus en het besluitvormingsvermogen vermindert). Ondanks deze uitdagingen benadrukt de cursus dat de hersenen zich kunnen herstellen: door middel van positieve gewoonten zoals lichaamsbeweging, mindfulness en creatieve activiteiten kunnen cursisten hun veerkracht versterken en zelfs enkele negatieve effecten van stress ongedaan maken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tot slot bevat het thema praktische oefeningen en reflectieactiviteiten om deelnemers te helpen hun eigen stressreacties te herkennen, fysiologische veranderingen in praktijksituaties te begrijpen en gezondere copingmechanismen te ontwikkelen.
